Pasta de Waraku (revisited)
After our haircut, we went over to Pasta de Waraku for dinner since it was on the same level and we were quite lazy to walk (very hungry ma..). Giving it another try after my adventurous and not-so-successful first visit. Decided to stick to something more conservative this time. i.e. the dish with the biggest picture. haha... The first dish and the first pic on the whole menu... it should say something about it right? i certainly hope so!
The taste is not bad. But there were bits of sand / shell in the dish. I was only mentioning it to the waiter when he was going his rounds getting feedback. I didn't expect the assistant manager to pop by after that, apologising profusely and offering a change of dish. As i was already half-way done, i didn't want to have a new dish but seeing how sincere and anxious she was, i requested for a dessert instead! hehe.
We were offered the Tiramisu Parfait. The tiramisu, which was the slice of cake on top of the ice-cream was very cheesy, which makes it kind of odd given the fact that it was supposed to be tiramisu. But then since it was complimentary, anything goes!Even though the food might not be super duper delicious, i'm very impressed by their service. Generally, i like waraku's service. I remembered the first time i ate at the cuppage outlet, i was offered (without saying or asking) an appetiser and drinks for all when my food came late. We were also given an "apology" voucher which entitled us to a $4 discount off our next meal. Sad to say, i had never experienced such service in local restaurants. i think they are trying to formulate the Japanese way of culture in their restaurant which i like. Customer service should be like this! But of course, we should be gracious in accepting good service as well and not try to exploit it as some kiasu Singaporeans do! Oh how i miss Japan!
Nakamura Eiji
S-san and i went to have our hair cut by this Japanese stylist who was in town. How everything came about was a long story... Sensei was telling us about hair salons in Japan last Sunday and how jyotsu the stylists were, which got us all excited about cutting ours one fine day in Japan too. Then, yesterday she came to class with a new hairstyle! tadah! Eiji-san happened to be here over the weekend and sensei got hers done just the day before. i had wanted to cut my hair anyway so S-san and i got sensei to help us make reservations!
It seemed that Eiji-san was supposed to come once every month to cut at Jeric @ The Central but due to his busy schedule in his own salon in Japan, he only comes when he is free now. i was quite anxious as i was not confident if i could communicate with him effectively in my half-past-6 jap or not.. i even prepared a "script" and brought along my dictionary just in case. haha.
We went for our appointment at 630pm. We were brought to our seats in front of ceiling-to-floor mirror panels. A towel was covered over my skirt thoughtfully. We got to choose our beverage from a menu too. Eiji-san was fully booked (with all Japanese customers) so we had to wait while he finished cutting for a previous customer. It didn't really bother us as we were excitedly busy guessing who he was. He came over to talk to us to discuss on the hairstyles that we wanted. For a director, he was very friendly. The shampoo girl came over shortly to wash my hair. The neck and shoulder massage during and after the wash was very good. The only thing i do not like was the uncomfortable chair at the rinsing bay. After chatting, we realised that our shampoo girl was one of the senior stylists there! haha! Shows how much face they give Eiji. What a pleasant surprise! The staff were very attentive but i do not know if it was only when Eiji was around.
We were very impressed with his skills and speed at which he execute his cut. Really sogoi! i managed to engage in some small talk with him and i didn't refer to my script or dictionary! hehe. He gave me what he called a cute hairstyle. i quite like it but i do not know if i would be able to replicate it myself especially after washing cos i'm a complete nuts when it comes to styling my hair... hope it is maintainable... In all, it was a great experience! And the cost turned out to be less than what we expected! Double bonus! hehe. (^_^)

Ah Yat Seafood Restaurant
Went to Ah Yat Seafood @ Turf City to celebrate mummy's birthday. You get to choose the live seafood from the aquarium outside and the way you want it cooked. There is another seafood restaurant on the same level under the same management but i heard this is the better one.
Poached prawns
Fan scallop with garlic. I didn't know that scallop goes so well with garlic, until i finished gobbling mine and realised i didn't get a shot. Luckily i stopped papa in time to capture the last remaining shell!
Stir-fried ee-fu noodles. Mummy added the few leaves of kai-lan that i had saved for my noodles cos she said "Got some greens look nicer in photo!" The noodles were just nice. Not too oily.
Chili crab. This is a HUGE disappointment. The fresh crab was nice and sweet but the cooking was all wrong. We didn't like the sauce. Wrong colour, too spicy and starchy.
Steamed star garoupa. This sad looking fish is very nice but very expensive too!Friday, February 22, 2008
Ang Bao Draw
8 in the team pooled to invest in the ang bao draw yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised to learn that we won a prize when i got to the office today. Though i still do not know which prize we stroke and what were the winning numbers. At least there's still ang bao to collect even though CNY's over. Yay! Haha. Spent $10. Got back $120. Maybe next year will have better luck! huat ah! (^^,)v

It Takes Two to Tango
Having missed last week's dance class, i've got lots to catch up today! And i know why it takes two to tango! cos if you do it alone, it is very hard to keep your balance. i have to constantly remind myself keep my core strong and practically hang on to my partner for support! And i think i lack the ATTITUDE to tango nicely. cos you have to "step step" some of the footwork really fast and with precision! And there are some funny twitching, twisting and turning of the body to give - as my instructor calls it - the "constipated" look. Perhaps i need more practice... sigh... i still miss my slow and graceful waltz!
Hog's Breath Cafe
The sun rose from the west today! Boss treated lunch! hehe. This is the result of pestering him for ang bao! yay! :p
All of us ordered the set lunches which are really value for money cos according to SL, the portions are exactly what they serve normally for ala-carte. SL and i ordered different mains to share.

A very satisfied lunch! Today is my second visit to this Vivo branch. The first time i was here, i had to takeaway half of my main! (i had ordered the grilled steak sandwich then, which i won't recommend). Save for the fries, we could finish most of the food today! hehe. Go for the set lunch. It's really worth the price! I don't think i would pay the usual prices to eat here though. Not when you can get such a good bargain!

不能说的秘密

Finally watched this directorial debut by Jay Chou! which was kind of surprising cos i like Jay Chou. hee... i've heard of the "secret" from friends who had seen the film which kind of spoil the fun for me. During the first part of the movie, i was kind of "disappointed" as i was eagerly anticipating the "action". But as the show progresses, i'm hooked! Though the film reeks of ideas from many other shows, i think it is entertaining, romantic and touching enough to bring about a tear in my eye.
