Singapore Biennale 2011 Open House (Part 2)

Last site for the Biennale... Old Kallang Airport. Now, this site is really quite off the usual track and away from all the other sites. Take the free shuttle if you want to come here.

The place is quite big. But quite a number are long boring video installations. It's really too hot to sit through them. Anyway here are some of the more fun installations i like.

A quirky part from the piece "The flying method of the artist with a fear of flying"

i find that i like alot of the seemingly simple pieces. And most are in black and white! hehe.

Had loads of fun at this interactive installation "Frequency and volume". Radio frequencies get tuned into by shadows. Spent lots of time making funny poses but it can get quite noisy if there's more people.

Did i mention that students get free entry to the Biennale? With my handy nafa card, i've got access to all the sites. :) i simply got to use more of it while it lasts! :p

Singapore Biennale 2011 Open House

The Biennale is back after a 3-year hiatus.

First stop - Merlion Hotel. Queued for more than half hour in the hot afternoon sun. Was inside the room for only 5 minutes before everyone was asked to vacate. :(

View from the bathroom

Mr Merlion

There's a free shuttle service which we took to the next destination. What a god-send in the withering weather! Next stop: National Museum

This is quite hilarious

Spent some time looking at the installations but my favourite for the day would have to be at SAM.

i simply adore this installation by Julian Gothe, "Voices from the off 2".

But the one that take the hat off has to be this...

This is what was written outside...

And look at what's inside the room...

Really nothing! It's a no-brainer! =_="

頑張れ、日本!

i'm very sadden at how one of my favourite country, the beautiful Japan has suffered under the hands of Mother Nature last Friday afternoon. It is a devastating sight to behold. Cars, ships, planes, houses, anything and everything, etc. swept away by the dark waters of the tsunami.

Having visited Tokyo less than a month ago, it's just so surreal seeing the clips showing the disaster. Yet, i can't help but want to know how bad it was. Still, there are little sniplets of touching moments which shows the resilience of the Japanese.

Yes! i believe Japan will fight back.

頑張れ、日本!I will be back!

The King's Speech

Colin Firth is completely believable as a stutter! Nice film but it gets a little slow at parts.

The Adjustment Bureau

Had wanted to watch the King's Speech but couldn't get tickets so watched this instead.

Fight for your fate. Film is about how Matt Damon fights the plan to be with the woman he loves. Good chemistry between the lead characters but i thought the the movie would be a tad more exciting and fast paced. No surprises in the ending but could be a little more dramatic.

偶然邂逅

Today is a day of coincidental occurences - after the pre-planned morning date i mean.

After lunch, went over to get the movie tickets. My top 3 shows are all sold out. But i'm next in queue and i really wanna watch something today. So i got the tickets to the next available show.

Anyways, there was a little time before YZ arrives. So i walked around. In passing by 313, chanced upon a roadshow. i was browsing in a shop next to the roadshow when i heard the mc introduce the host and guests from 女人我最大 on-stage! They were doing some promo for the cable company i think. Everyone was whipping out their phones and so did i! But the emcee was blocking the guests the whole time. And everyone's hands were blocking me too.

After Lan Xin Mei went off after playing one game, i proceed to my next destination. At Orchard Central, i saw Joanna Dong and the other female lead. They were there to be ready for their roadshow for the 881 musical in the late afternoon. i had already gotten my tickets some time back so i didn't stick around for their performance.

Later, while enjoying my ice cream, also saw someone i know from the company there.

After a teabreak (really it was our trip discussion) @ Fruit Paradise which serve quite good tarts, we went up to find a place for early dinner before the show. Chanced upon this new restaurant Long Xia Zhou Shi Jia. We ate the lobster porridge and pan-fried kurobuta. The pork is quite nice but oily. The porridge is actually rice is soup. The soup is very flavourful though the lobster is too tough.

Cold Stone Creamery

Sampled their ice cream before the official opening! :)

Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip. i like! Yummy!

Shop @ Orchard Central. Opening on 12 Mar.
