Retrolicious!

It was a long tiring night cos i was nursing a stomach flu from yesterday. We went to Fort Canning Park promptly at 6pm as the ticket advised. Alas, the gates were not open yet. Had to wait about half an hour before we were finally admitted! But lucky to have found a sufficiently big space near the stage for me and my 2 friends to squeeze in. :) And so we waited.

It was nearly 8pm when the countdown from 1980 finally began. There was a very long but interesting recap of every 80s year from 1980 to 1989. Well, it's quite interesting at first. But when you get to 1985 and the show's still not starting, that's when it's testing your patience.

The whole park is PACKED! And i only found out after the concert how packed it was! No wonder it was so hot! We early birds started off with sitting on the ground aka picnic in the park. It was only after the Class95 presenters commented that it's not picnic in the park, it's concert in the park that we all started standing and rushing even more to the front! hehe. :)

i think the crowd was quite responsive tonight. First act, Johnny Hates Jazz. Sorry guys, but this is the first time i've heard of you. So i couldn't get down to singing along with the rest of the people around me.

Second stop: Debbie Gibson! She's the main reason i bought my tickets to the concert. And she's a real sexy lady at 40! i wish i could be like that when i'm 40! She sang all the crowd favourites. Notably, Lost in Your Eyes was a huge karaoke in the park. But i thought her voice sounded different now.

Well, they saved the best for last! Rick Astley!!! From the moment he stepped on stage to sing Forever Together, all the cameras and iPhone in front of me were wipped out, it's just amazing. And Rick's just so charming even at 44. And we thought even more so at 44! He's so funny and charismatic, he practically had everyone lapping up his charms. And best of all, he still sound the same as the 80s! And isn't that British accent just so sexy? Don't you just love that English accent! :) Even though he sang quite a number of newer and unknown songs, when he got to his Never Ganna Give You Up, it was major karaoke town again! YAY!! :)

i'm so glad i rallied my friends to watch this with me. Even if i had to endure gastric and backaches after the concert. i didn't had much food or water from 6pm to 12mn! i just wasn't ganna give it up! :p

梁文音 - 第六感

喜欢这首歌轻快的旋律，也因为很不像梁文音，所以很喜欢。尤其是cd 版太不像她了。原来梁文音也能唱《最幸福的事》以外的歌。And i just learnt that it's written by Tanya.

虎年听小虎队

Oh yay!!! So glad for the rain this afternoon, i managed to catch 小虎队 on tv! :) They are my all time fav boyband. i think i still have their old old cassettes in the store room! hehe.

City Hall

XX lent me this dvd a while ago. Probably around the time SL lent me the <<败犬女王>>. It's been a while since i watched a kdrama. This starred the female lead from My Name is Kim Sam Soon which was one of my fav kdrama. Anyway, finished watching City Hall in a week. Great chemistry between the leads and the male lead looks really man in this show! :p

The mayor and the city staff did a dance in the last episode. i thought it was really cool so i searched for the song and it's the exact same moves!

李玟 - 爱我久一点

Heard part of this on tv yesterday and realised it has been a decade since i last heard this song! Tried searching youtube but alas, i think this song is either too 冷门 or too old, original MTV cannot be found. i liked this song then cos of the MTV, way back during the days when MTV was played on channel 8 every Saturday. Oh well, can't find the original so this is the next best.

Oooohhh! Just remembered i have a vcd of this mv in my drawer! :p

Amazed Amused

Accidentally found out that someone copied and pasted one of my previous posts on a forum. Although i had set the blog to be private and not searchable but i'm amazed that it still managed to be found. Well, my post is of my feelings after watching this concert. i had since forgotten about what i had wrote. But i was kinda amused to read people's comments on what i had wrote. And it was even more amusing to re-read what i wrote myself! Haha! i think i'm really (1) crazy or (2) i really enjoyed myself that night indeed! :p

小歌迷

Z is back with his new album 暗恋: 张智成 and is in town to promote it. i didn't wanted to go for the campus concert initially... cos i'm a logical fan and i'm not crazy over him. BUT lucky i went! Cos he is really good in singing live. He would always improvise and personalise his songs during live performance and sound even better than the cd. And he is so funny today. Especially when he deliberately switch to Msia accent. Definitely won't be able to catch that on tv. hehe.

The concert opened with my fav track 第四者 from the new album. This is the 5th track on the new album. It is weird cos i don't like the title track (i.e. 暗恋) which sounds very boring to me. i like 第四者 cos of the beat at the chorus esp at the last line 我是你的 你是我的 亲密又疏离的第四者 which sounds really nice when it is sang with attitude. And after tonight 迷魂阵 became my next fav cos the song was blasting during the concert and it kinda grows on me. hehe. i like these two songs cos they are very different from the usual Z songs.

Tonight, he sang more songs than i had expected. Besides 第四者, 爱来的刚好 and 暗恋 from the new album, he also sang 凌晨三点钟, 末日之恋, Because I Love You and May I Love You at the crowd's strong request.

i've got a very good seat but most of the photos i took are very bad. :( Only the video looks ok... See if i know how to upload here... :p Oh! And i shook his hands and took pic with him again!! (^^,)v And he autographed my cd again.

There's also a 歌友会 on Sat. i would have gone for that if i hadn't promised to go Desaru with my parents.

[Sidetrack] With the assistance of technology you can now have 永恒的回忆 but it somehow hindered the enjoying of the moment (if you know what i mean). i was kinda too obsessed with taking a good video that i controlled my screaming and applause. Now that's bad... for a 小歌迷 whose job is to scream and applause.

Heard that the mv for 暗恋 is guy-guy love... yuck. :S don't think i like the change. prefer the boy next door image.

梁文音【最幸福的事】

Heard this song a couple of times and thought it is quite nice. Saw the mv for the first (and second) time today. YZ said the mv is real sad and almost cry everytime she saw it. Gosh... it's true... me too... :'(

[Side track] Realised that quite a number of people also go to ktv in pairs. Although with more people might be more fun and not as stressful on the vocal cord, just 2 is just as fun. And time really flies when singing. Initially felt that there is lots of time but in a twinkle of an eye, time is gone and there are so many songs not sung! And today's condition is the best in months! Argh!

Kylie X 2008

i got a call from the cd shop on new year's eve that they have a copy of the dvd for me. i found out that it was the last copy after the restock. lol. it's sold out as soon as it arrived! And i got mine cos the previous customer cancelled the reservation, so i bought it! ~~~i should feel so lucky lucky lucky lucky!~~~

i couldn't afford the tickets when she was here last year so this is the next best thing. What a lavish set! Since the concert is named after her last album, considerably it has lots of songs from that which i think is not as nice as some of the previous songs. But most of the more popular songs were there though i thought there a couple of slow moments in the concert. i liked the ending of the concert best. The last song was one of her earliest song years ago. (hint: the title is somewhere in this post. :p) What a showgirl! Pity i was watching it on a small dvd viewer.

Heard this song playing over the radio in recent weeks... Had thought that it is sang by Landy all along till this week... hee... oh but i really 猜不透 the MV... :p

After listening to my old C&A CD, i remembered why i had bought it. It was because of this one song. My fav C&A song. Pity ASKA didn't sing it today. :(

ASKA Symphonic Concert Tour 2008 "SCENE"

My very first Japanese concert!!
Nevermind that he is now one half of duo CHAGE & ASKA from decades ago.
Nevermind that he is now a 50-year-old ojisan (uncle).
Nevermind that i have not heard many of his songs... erm... or maybe had heard only one song.
Nevermind the pricey tickets. i wouldn't have gone if CQ did not jio me.

The thing is it would be my very first Japanese concert! And this might be the only time ASKA would be singing here! (Seeing how small the local market is for Japanese concerts). And he is collaborating with The Philharmonic Orchestra of Singapore, singing at the Esplanade. i'm sold!

The concert was attended by an expected predominantly Japanese crowd. Not sure whether was it due to the Japanese culture, or was it the "classy" setup in the Esplanade and with the Orchestra? The audience was rather subdued. Still, i think it was a SUGOI concert!

Sugoi seats! Our seats at Circle 1 Balcony A was the best in the house! Unrestricted view of the stage, orchestra and ASKA (even though we were looking at his right side most of the time. hehe.)

Sugoi singing! Gosh! He sounds exactly the same as his CD! i realised that i do have one CD in my mass collection and was playing it this afternoon to refresh my memory. lol. REALLY powerful vocals! You can even hear him sing standing more than 1m away from the mic! And he's so engrossed in his singing, so nice to see him sing! 认真的男人最帅!

Kakkoii ojisan! ASKA smiled at me!!! He looked at our balcony at the start of the concert and smiled when i waved at him. hehe. He looks so cute, he doesn't look like a 50yr-old uncle! Still looks like the ASKA on my CD sleeve (and that was from donkey years ago!)

He sang mostly songs from his solo albums. So for the majority of the concert, i'm hearing them for the first time. Perhaps it was the collaboration with the orchestra, perhaps it was his 有感染力的唱功, you just feel very comfortable listening to the concert. No gimmicky act, dance or costume. It was just his plain voice and the orchestra. Not even backup singers.

He's still on for another night at the Esplanade. Catch him if you can! (^^,)v

王若琳 - 有你的快乐

Fell in love with this song in recent weeks. Been hearing it over the radio. i like the 编曲 very much. Makes me feel happy just listening to the song. (^^,)

Trip Down Memory Lane

yes 933 pick of the pops is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a classic hits marathon from today till tomorrow. heard this song on my way home just now. gosh! all these songs bring back so many fond memories. This song was in "If There're Seasons..." too. =)

[Edited] Replaced the 姜鄠 version with this one cos i can't stand the self created MV. (o_O)

Michael Buble - Sway

The bride's brother sang this song just now. i thought he did quite a good rendition. The only thing lacking was a dance floor and latin dancers! :p

初三那天，我们互挖了彼此的丑事。原来事别多秋，YZ还记得。。我们当年一起做FYP时，我常唱某两首歌。现在我只记得有此事（而且是在大马路旁唱的哦！），但其因就已淡忘了。现在听到这两首歌就会想起与YZ在Science Park数车的那段日子。这是其中一首。在KBox都找不到这首歌的MV，只有concert版的。真的是太开心了！(^_^)v

Found myself humming this song all of a sudden this morning in the office pantry. hehe. :) Searched the whole of youtube but could only find the concert version of the song... i like the MV version much much better with only the chinese lyrics.
