Saizeriya

Saw this place featured on a tv program. It's a Japanese chain of Italian-style family restaurant. The place is full even at 6pm at the "far-flung" Liang Court (Sidetrack - ok maybe the queue was not as bad as Tampopo's where they even got a karaoke system to shout out the queue nos - but why can't they use an electronic queue system??).

The Doria with meat sauce is quite nice. i like the gratin sauce though i can't really taste the beef in it. Best to be savoured when warm. And it's only $4.28++!

Hamburg steak with mushroom sauce. Average but i couldn't finish the cho salty patty. But at $7.98 it's quite value for money.

Train Man 「電車男」 (The Book)

Didn't realise that the library's gotten hip now. Well, it's keeping up to date with "fashion". Borrowed this from the library too. I've seen the drama so i was kinda comparing it with the book... The book's quite entertaining too. Those commuters must have thought that i'm crazy when i'm reading this on the train cos half the time i was smiling to myself. (^3^)

He's Just Not That Into You (The Book)

Someone told me there's this book so i went to search for it in the library. Quite entertaining. It's fashioned like a self-help cum Aunt Agony kind-of book. (or Uncle Agony rather!) Cos the book's co-written by a guy and he tried to injet the rational view of point dishing advice to the helpless damsels in distress. Quite a good read for boring train rides.

Oh better still, there's a "He Just Thinks He's Not That Into You"! LOL! Glanced a few pages and that is an even trashier (drop-dead hilarious) book than the former! i think i might just borrow it the next time round! :p

Did you know that? You can now renew your book once for FREE!! Isn't that nice!? :p

Wii Workout

Wanna tone up your arm muscles? Wanna a fun workout? Play Raving Rabbids 2 on Wii!! :p

Btw, Ajisen ramen taste quite different at different branches.. The JP2 one (char siew ramen) doesn't have much taste...

The okos is still ok... at least the sauces are not as generously overspread as the Vivo branch...

Confessions of a Shopaholic

This is probably not the best movie out there but heck, it's every girl's dream movie. If only i can shop till i drop, pay off my bills miraculously at the end of the day and still get my dream guy. aww.... The book's a better read but heck, it's the recession, a girl's gotta have some escapism fun sometimes. Just watch it for the comic relief and pure fun of it.

Btw, $6 tickets at Iluma Bugis till Good Friday even for online booking! No wonder the theatre is almost full on a Monday evening. Other parts of the mall empty otherwise.

Remembrance

Went tomb sweeping this morning. Haven't visited my grandma's grave for a couple of years. Added another destination this year - my great-grandma's grave (my grandma's mother). We haven't visited her grave since she passed away years ago. i vaguely remember her funeral, even though i was only 4/5 years old at that time. It appears that my granduncle had been visiting her grave religiously every year before crossing the hill to visit his sister (i.e. my grandma). We were informed by the caretaker there that my granduncle had told him last year that he might not be able to come this year. Maybe he had a prenotion... it was really sad when i heard that.. :(

Underdog Rules!

Today is the finale of the Sports Days. After combining the scores from Day one, two and three (the frisbee which i missed), my house colour started today with the lowest points, trailing the leader by about 200 points! There were 4 events in today's finale. Kite making and fly kite, tug-of-war, "hamtala" (dunno what name is that...) and a telematch of various games.

For kite making, we had to make 3 kites and fly them. The house who can fly all 3 kites for max 20mins wins. None of the 4 houses manage to do that. But one of our kites manage to fly the highest although it got caught on a tree. So we came in 2nd. And that was 150 points.

Next, tug-of-war. There were 2 semis, 1 finals and 3rd/4th position playoff. We won the first semi which brought us to the finals. The finals was the thriller and climax of the day! Since our house won the first semis, we were more rested than the other finalist and more confident. But when we started, somehow the momentum kinda lost and we were dragged almost halfway towards the opponents' side. We could not afford to lose this match cos we used our triumph card which gives the winner of the game double points. If we lose, the triumph card would be useless. So we HAVE to win the tug-of-war in order to get a faint chance of winning the whole sports day thingy. Somehow either the opponent lose steam or our team managed to pull our socks up at the very critical moment, we managed to pull the opposite team all the way to our side! YAY!!!! Double YAY cos i was one of the pullers!! hee... (cos each teams has to have 2 girls). So we earned 200 x 2 points. And this was the start of the turn of events.

Third game for the day is the "hamtala". Basically, there are 5 pails inside a circle. There are 3 cans stacked on top of each pail. 5 defenders will have to guard the cans to prevent them from being knocked over by the attackers. The 15 attackers are standing outside the outer circle and would have to knock the cans down using plastic balls. The rule is that the defenders cannot step into the inner circle to where the pails and cans are. And the attackers cannot step into the outer circle to where the defenders are. One team will defend first and the other attack. And switch roles.

The game started off normally. We are in the first semis again. We won by managing to hit down the cans faster and block off the balls better. Then the 2nd semis and that's where the controversy begins. One team started to think outside the box. They started to defend the cans by putting their hands right next to the can, literally building a wall around the cans. The referee opined that the team did nothing wrong as they did not step across the circle. So, from then on, all the teams started adopting that tactic. So anyway, during the finals, we were the attackers first. The other team managed to save 3 cans so my team needs to save 4 cans in order to win. We couldn't let them win cos now this team had activated their triumph card. oohhh.... After 2 minutes of enduring balls raining on them, our defenders lead by my heavy-weight house captain with the very strong horse stance and big strong palms won!! YAY!! We saved 4 cans, got 200 points from it and managed to block a win by the other house. By now, my house is leading by 200+ points! (^^,)v

Since we already have the trophy in the bag, we didn't really fight all the way in the 4th game. But we still finished the game sportingly. i think we came in 2nd or 3rd...

Anyways, i enjoyed myself as it has been a long time since i played such schoolish games cos i always like sports days for feeling the class spirit. But it was also kinda sad cos the turnout from my dept was very very bad. Coming from schools with strong class spirit, i kinda saddens me that people now just don't bother to make an effort. Work hard. Play hard! That's the rule. And for today, the underdogs rule! :)

Clouds... Stuff Dreams are Made of

i won a million dollars and went for a holiday at the Alps!

April's fool! haha...

Ok this isn't the Alps but nearby Genting Highlands. This is a bad pic taken from indoors but it is much nicer seeing the view than from this photo.

First family outing with my parents together with a whole bunch of aunts and uncles and cousin in a long long time. Took a coach to and fro. About 6hrs each way but it's not that bad. There's entertainment on board! Erms.. not that it was any good. Watched Dance of the Dragon (huge major real disaster! simply horrible!) and The Nanny Diaries (slightly better)

We got a free upgrade to luxury class on the trip up. Nice seats, ample of legroom!

Oh my aunts said that they saw thomas ong in the casino playing the jackpot with his legs propped up. i saw him walking lazily in flip flops around the mall.

and i do wish i had won a million dollars. alas, i'm poorer by RM150.. :(

OH OH! i forgot to mention that i was stopped at the casino entrace and asked to check my passport!! *grin grin* You mean i look younger than 18!? LOL. (^^)
