Galbiati Gourmet Deli

LF recommended this Italian restaurant at the Rail Mall. Very out of the place but she was very sweet to offer us a lift to here. :)

Quite a small eatery as half of the shop is taken up by their deli that offers takeaways. Service here was quite good. They offered all of us additional glass of wine... well... that could be cos we had spent quite an obscene amount on the dinner here! hehe...

Here's what we ate....

Soup
LF and YZ both had the Lobster bisque

Starters
Calamari Fritti
2 portions of Fresh Oysters

Mains
All of us ordered the pasta.
i had the Ink squid fettuccine with crab sauce. Yummy! The pasta is al dente and doesn't have a fishy smell. Taste very home cooked.

Dessert
Tiramisu and i forgot the other dessert. oops.

Wine
Prosecco - we just learnt that this is sparkling wine. i thought that this is a ladies' wine cos it is very easy to drink. But they all said that my training at Club Med had worked. -_-" Anyway, the bottle is really very little. Everyone only had 1.5 glasses and the "glasses" were not even full. Anyhow, XX managed to "sweet-talk" the waiter into giving us all free refills!

The owner himself served us some what he called "lemon water" for us. They were just tiny shots of lemon flavoured liquer but i really can't stand the taste. XX said it taste a little like detergent. i can't describe the taste so i (in fact all of us) donated my drink to YZ (the no.1 alcoholic in our group!) :p

Been spending more and more on dinner nowadays.

Next gathering: Fish head bee hoon at Bugis!

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

i like Part 1 better. More action. Cos the squeakquel is too short!

MINT

Was really excited about this office event to the Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys (better known as MINT) Museum of Toys cos i've always wanted to visit but found the admission fees slightly steep for a small museum. Anyways, i took the trouble to bring the cam to office. When i flashed it out to take the really nice basement restaurant, to my horror of horrors, the battery icon is flashing at me!?!? i forgot to check the cam last night and the cam died-ed on me after 3 lousy shots. Crap. :(

Did u know that the museum is owned by one person and the toys on display here is only 10% of his whole collection? He is rich!

2 lessons learnt from the curator Richard this afternoon. One: Collect toys in their boxes. And don't play or open them. Mint toys fetch more $$$. Two: Collect ugly toys. Cos most people play with the heros and throw away the baddies. Big mistake! Imagine the most expensive toy on display is an ugly British Mickey Mouse with teeth. Worth US$35,000!

梁文音 - 第六感

喜欢这首歌轻快的旋律,也因为很不像梁文音,所以很喜欢。尤其是cd 版太不像她了。原来梁文音也能唱《最幸福的事》以外的歌。And i just learnt that it's written by Tanya.

Alice In Wonderland

Ever since the trailer came out last year, i've been wanting to watch this colourful movie. Well, that pretty sums up the whole film. Colourful. Perhaps i've been expecting too much out of this film that it doesn't dazzle as much as i thought it should be. The best 3D effect is when Alice drops into the rabbit hole and escaping the chase from the Red Knave. But at least there's something pop out of the screen, unlike Avatar. That's what i call 3D! :p

Definitely, Maybe

The guy tells his daughter his love lifes and in the meantime, discover something about himself... hmm... the movie is watchable only for the lead and the 4 ladies in his life.

Julie & Julia

Finally complete the second half of the movie (first half was seen in Siem Reap but i watched the show in whole anyway).
Quite an average film, though the food and all the french names did make me want to do the Julie thing and try out the recipes too. But well, only for a short fleeting moment as i really dislike washing up! hee...

Sporty Weekend

Yesterday was the office cohesion finale. Attendance as usual was dismal. So all of us had to participate. i like the games actually. Cos i've never tried them before. All the 6 segments were on those huge inflatable "balloon" structures. There's the obstacle course, the bungee basketball, the rock climbing, gladiators, street soccer and sumo wrestling. And i'm proud to say that i played them all. *wink wink* i liked the obstacle course the most cos that was our first event and also the only event i won my competitor. But how could i win the other events when i'm up against stronger male competitors. And nope, we were not given advantage. Anyways, winning is not everything (sounds like sour grapes i know), i'm just very happy that my small sub-group of 5 stick together and even uncles are taking part so sportingly.

So after a sporty Friday, i pulled out of bed with aching muscles for a 3hr aerobics workout at the WDO. Crazy. Massive signup. i'm elbow to elbow with the person next to me, in front of me and behind me. There's just no room to move. Talk about spinning, kicking or even sashaying. Anyh0w, i managed to survive the 3hrs under the hot sun (again).

Siem Reap (Day 1)

The adventure begins even before we fly. Did you know that you can hop onto the skytrain at the departure hall and go duty free shopping at every terminal before you fly!? We didn't know that!!! With just half an hour to take off, we decided to try our luck to look for a particular brand at T3 as we were told by the sales assistant that it was only available there. So off we go in a snip snap and got back in time to T2 to catch our 0840hrs Silkair MI622 flight. :p

And the holiday begins!!! We had met up so many times, to plan our itenary for just a short 4-day trip that puts us to shame. hee... Anyway, we shouldn't have bothered. Cos the moment we touched down on Cambodian land, after meeting our driver and at the recommendation of the guesthouse's staff, our plans went down the drain! (well, not all but halfway.) hehe.

So after settling down in our room for these 3 nights, we went on a walking stroll around Siem Reap town.

Along the Siem Reap river...

Our first stop - Wat Bo.

According to Lonely Planet, it is one of the town's oldest temples and there's supposed to be a collection of paintings from the late 19th century but we saw nothing of that! And we must be the only crazy foreigners on the walking tour, we were the only ones at Wat Bo, in the heat of 40 deg C! (or so we heard).

Next stop, late lunch at Butterflies Garden restaurant. There were supposed to be butterflies flying around while we eat. But dunno is it cos of the hot weather, few butterfiles to be seen. And they are not scared of humans! One landed on the tee-shirt of the ang-moh in the next table. Another landed on YZ's face!!!! haha! But i was too slow to dig out my cam to capture such a priceless (funny) moment! :p Food is not nice. And i ordered a very yucky horribly bitter lime soda. Cos the weather was so hot, i had to force myself to drink it. And of course not to waste the drink too.

Since it was time for our next appointment, we quickly rushed back to the guesthouse where our awaiting tuk tuk driver brought us to Tonle Sap Lake.

This lake is the largest freshwater lake in SE Asia. In dry season, the water flows out to the Mekong River and in wet season (high tide), the water floods back in. Interesting! See the moss-like thing on the trees? That's how high the water submerged in high season! gasp!

Floating villages

Look at the boy in the tub! Ingenious!

We stopped at one of the floating restaurants to view the sunset. Alas! The sun is hidden behind the very big cloud! :( Nonetheless, the colours are really nice. The sun is always very nice when on water. :)

There isn't any streetlights on the way back. So we couldn't see what were the "stuff" that we "raining" on us in the wind on the ride back. Dust? Insects? After a long shower (cos of the horribly tiny flow of water in the shower), we walked to the nearby town centre for our dinner. We went to Amok restaurant, opposite to Old Market, to eat Amok. :p This is a curry dish. i like it a lot cos it is not spicy! Must-try!

i like the decor alot! The 2 small shots in the middle are complimentary pumpkin soup. :)

Fish Amok. Yum!

Walked walked a little after dinner and went back to the guesthouse before it closes at 1130pm. End of Day 1.
