The "I should have brought my cam or Why didn't I bring my cam when i needed it" Post

This post is originally meant to be titled "Perm" or "Change of hairstyle?" or "Kawaii look" or "Bob again?" or something related to my hair but decided to give it this super long title instead. Ha! You see, i went for a haircut again. As i was telling the Jap stylist, i have simply no idea why i'm always given the bob everytime i ask them to do their own thing. Not that i don't look good in bob; i like the sleek look. But it was getting kinda boring. So after some chicken and duck conversation (me trying to convey my thoughts in Jap to the stylist), he curled my hair in the hottest Jap style. Not permanent of course. Just using roller to let me have an impression of how i would look if i were to paama my hair. i quite like what i saw in the mirror. hehe. AND that is when i should have brought my cam along! Argh!

Chilli Padi

Treated my colleagues to this new branch of this Peranakan restaurant located somewhere in NUS compound. Thought that the food is not bad for the price. $13.80+ for lunch/dinner buffet. There's opening special promo 30% off. And SL got an even more special promo for me where 2 can dine for free. Wuhoo! Would recommend all to this place. Nice decent decor. Nice ambience. Not crowded like some buffets. And you still can eat till your heart's fill. The 30% promo is till end Aug. Only setback of this place would be the location. You really need a vehicle to get here.

Why didn't i bring my cam when i needed it!

Bintan 2009

Back to Bintan first time after the tsunami. Before the tsunami, my friends and i had been spending Xmas in Bintan for 2/3 years. Last visit was during that fateful year and on that fateful day we were on the way back to Sg. We didn't know what had happened but the sea was unusally choppy that almost all felt horribly sick. So much so that i didn't want to go back for a while. Well, that was end of that.

Anyway, back to Bintan for 3D2N of sun, fun and golf! i had not played since like >1 year ago. Thanks to CQ, we got a really good deal for the accom and game! :) Just that the food is real exp in Bintan!

As i didn't want to miss my dear jap class, we took the 5pm ferry to Bintan on Sunday 19 Jul. Reached there about 5pm Bintan time and checked into Bintan Lagoon Resort. Had wanted to laze around at the pool but it was drizzling so went for dinner after a short rest. And back to the room as i watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on channel 5. :p

Monday 20 Jul. Woke up at 6.30am so that we can be in time for 8.15am flight. First time played 36 holes in one day! Got really bad arm muscle ache that night so much so that i couldn't sleep! Yikes!! And a nasty suntan "bangle" on both my wrists. Anyway, the Ocean Course at Ria Bintan is really nice.

Today 21 Jul. Simply could not lift my arm so i didn't join CQ for another 18 holes. Just ventured around the resort, took a short nap and more of channel 5. Haha... Couldn't believe i watched so much Sg tv while in Bintan.. lol. :p

Checked out at 12.30pm, ate our lunch at the Miyako, the Jap restaurant at the Resort and took the 4.45pm ferry back home.

Bintan by weekday is really deserted, unlike the weekends. Very good for relaxation. Not much people. Not many S'poreans. More Japs and Koreans.

This is me posing for the shoot. You can tell i'm posing cos the photo is missing something very crucial! The ball! Haha... which has already flown over to the other side... or did it drop into the sea?? :p

Ritz Carlton Greenhouse (Part 2)

Brought my parents for buffet lunch. After discount about $28 per pax. Quite reasonable for the spread.. but think we are really bad in eating buffet. Didn't eat much and full already. Lunch and dinner is almost about the same.. Dinner probably slightly more dishes and oyster.

So far so good... no symptoms... So i guess probably it was the oysters that was problematic the other night. haa...

Double Bay

This is the earliest Xmas gathering ever! Anyway went to this Aussie restaurant that specialised in fish and chips. Well... lets just say that i like the pumpkin soup and the mashed potato from today's dinner best.

Pictures to be uploaded!

Night Festival

Missed the Night Festival last year so decided to go look see today. The programme starts from 8pm with some performance by local acts. Was not interested so went over to SAM instead. Free admission!! :)

There's a very good exhibition. The Wu Guanzhong Donation Collection. He donated 114 pieces of his art work to SAM in 2008 and they are on display now. Even YZ (my museum kaki), who does not like art musuems usually was also impressed. Pity that there were more people in the flea market outside the galleries than IN the galleries. (-_-")

At around 930pm, we went over to the National Museum to chop a good spot to catch the main event of the night, The Loop of Fortune which was to start at 1030pm. After waiting for about an hour under the sky along Stamford Road, the show finally begin with a terrible slow start. To say that we were hugely disappointed was an understatement. The only thing worth watching is the pyrotechnics (as usual for a night performance) but it is nothing really WOW.

Should have spent the night at the museum instead! Waste the free admission!

Chick chick and her 5 BFs

There's an elderly rehab centre near my workplace. Used to see 3 chickens roaming at the green patch on the centre divider and along the road in front of the block. But recently saw that Chick Chick has gotten herself 3 new bf!! hehe. And they have a new haunt! The junction opposite the block!

Managed to sneak a photo of them out playing this morning. Now my question is, how did the chickens cross the road??

Ritz Carlton buffet

There's 1 for 1 Ladies Night promo for the buffet dinner, so the girls decided to give it a try. Nice atmosphere and mostly girls around. Guess us girls know a good bargain when we see one. hehe. But i got a terrible tummy upset, a malu taxi ride and an expensive cab fare after that. :(

[Afternote on 10 Jul] i thought the tummy churning was due to the milk that i had drank the day before cos sometimes i'm lactose intolerant. XX vomited during the night at 5 am but i thought is because she had a drink too many. Then now YZ told me she also went toilet many times that night. hmm... so i think it must be something that we ate. haa... Even big hotel food can also have food poisoning... Gosh... i'm going there for lunch in a couple of weeks' time.

Desaru

Visited Desaru over the weekend with my parents and relatives. Took the half hour ferry ride at 1230pm from Changi Ferry Terminal yesterday. Didn't know that there's ferry to Desaru... Cool... beats travelling by coach but the terminal is at such a ulu place.

After lunch, we checked into the Desaru Golden Beach Resort for a rest before going to the Desaru Fruit Farm for dinner at 6pm. There was a ktv competition and some uncles and aunties took to the stage to show off their vocal powress (or lack of).

Since the night is still young, we proceeded to fireflies sightseeing! We have to take a boat down a river/pond/lake/erm.. some water. Anyway, this is my first time seeing fireflies so i was very excited. i was expecting to go into some dark cave and see the fireflies inside it so i took up the front seat cos there's no shelter blocking the ariel view. As the boat slowly maneuver down the river with vegetation on both sides, my cousin sitting behind me suddenly spotted the fireflies! It finally dawned on me that the flickering lights on the trees are the fireflies! hehe. As we flow down the river, more and more lighted trees could be spotted. When it was time to turn back to the jetty, the boatman suddenly swerve the boat into the trees! i had a shock of my life as i was sitting right in front! Oh no!! i thought i was going to smash into the trees! Turned out that he wanted to let us have a closer look at the fireflies. hehe. It was really pretty. i was quite afraid of the fireflies initially cos i thought they bite or will be very hot (cos fire mah... :p). Well, they are more like flying ants that glow. i captured a few in my palms but they soon escaped when i opened a small gap to look at them. hee..

i think the fireflies would be even more beautiful if the sky is not so brightly lit by the almost full moon. Oh, regardless of the not-so-dark sky, there are lots of stars! Long time since i last looked up to view stars. Used to do that quite often in my old house when we were staying higher up. :)

After the fireflies adventure, we returned to the resort for a night rest.

Basically Sunday's programme is visit to fruit farm and ostrich farm. Got to eat the fruits from the trees at the fruit farm. And managed to see an ostrich give birth to an egg at the ostrich farm. Gosh the ostrich egg is big! And it can take my weight!! OMG! :p

Oh if you happen to go Desaru, don't stay at the same resort. The heater's faulty in our room. Had to take cold showers for 2 days. Aircon is leaking and it freezes at 30 degrees C! Don't think would go back again. But i really wanna bring home a fireflies-lit tree! (^^,)

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Action, action and more action! Not that i'm complaining. The main attraction are the robots anyway. Who wants to see a silly vase? And they should do something about the colour of the Autobots and the Decepticons cos i really can't tell who is who when they are fighting. A bit messy to me. Believe it or not but i'm not seen the first Transformers movie though i liked Optimus Prime very much from the good old cartoon days. My memory might have failed me but i think he is much cuter then. hehe.

Oh saw the trailer for Harry Potter! The Half Blood Prince is finally coming!! Yay!! Gotta go revise my book! :p
