Kim Gary HK Cafe @ Vivo City

Ordered the mushroom rice with fried chicken set lunch that comes with borch soup and hot almond drink. i always like borch soup cos it just gives me a very homely wholesome feeling everytime i drink it. Yummy. :) The mushroom rice is quite nice too but it is a super big bowl. But don't expect deep-fried chicken like me when i saw the menu. It is more of the stir-fried teriyaki style.

This is my second visit here. i remembered coming here once last year and ate the baked rice but i can't seem to find any post on it. Oh well. i think today's food taste better. :p

Cathay Restaurant (Revisited)

We've got a $20 voucher from our previous visit so XX suggest we go back there for dim sum for an early birthday celebration. Their dim sum are reasonably priced. Quality was good and fresh.

These cute hot chicks were yummy fried taro balls. :p

The steamed prawn rice roll comes in a super long dish that i thought was quite unique.

The dessert XX recommended - cream of almond mousse. No artificial almond essence taste but it was kinda sweet and there's a slight bitter aftertaste which they said is the presence of real almonds.

Service is always good here. That is until dessert time. During our last visit, except for one, all our desserts came very late. It happened again today. This time, the server forgotten to key in our order...

We got another $20 voucher from today's visit. Are we coming back for YZ's birthday celebration?? lol.

My First Tote Bag

Had burnt the midnight oil for XX's present. lol. Underestimated the time... Spent about 4 hours on it. But i like it! :)

i think the fabric turned out very well. So pretty. :)

It's a reversible bag! One bag, two faces. v(^^,)(,^^)v

The Dark Knight

A befitting title to a DARK GRIM movie. Way too long, too dark, too grim. Lots of gory details. i didn't like it. Had caught Batman Begins on tv recently, which fueled my interest to watch this film. And of course all the hype around it. The show is too long for its own good. i had to made myself sit through all 153 minutes of it. To give credit, the Joker really made my hair stand. But he is bored down by the super draggy plot. And i was getting a little uncomfortable with all the gruesome scenes onscreen. Perhaps the best thing that came out of the film is the revelation of the good side of the human race in the dilemma between mortality and morality. Movies are a form of escapism from life. Give me a feel-good cartoon or romance comedy any time!

Night at the Museum

It was people galore at the museum tonight! As part of the 2 weekend long Night Festival, there's free entry to 5 museums today from 6pm to 2am!

After a super light dinner, YZ and i made our way to the Peranakan Museum - a nice quaint colonial building that was the old Tao Nan School. We were just in time for a talk by the curator, hearing some of the stories behind some of the artefacts in the museum. Good introduction to the museum and refreshments were served at the end of it too! hehe. The ondeh ondeh was very good! :p

i like the layout of the museum. Interactive and down-to-earth. It has that warm feeling to it. i think that's how museums should be. Bringing people together. Learning a little bit more about the past and ourselves. Who says museums are boring!? And of course, it doesn't hurt that my sec school was mentioned in the exhibit too. Made me feel even more at home. :)

By the time we left, it was almost time to catch the last train home! Had wanted to cover at least 2 museums and maybe even squeeze in 3 but guess that was way over ambitious!

i like this colourful mural on the second floor.

This interactive phone was on display. But i think more attention should paid to the details... Were there such push dial buttons then?!

Prata @ Raffles City Food Junction

Was still feeling bloated from the Melting Pot buffet lunch so just had a roti prata for dinner. lol. i don't usually eat prata (much less for dinner!) at food courts cos 1) they are way overpriced for just dough, 2) usually oily and sinful. So was quite surprised to see my prata almost oil-less. Its totally dry but soft and fluffy and crispy.

Promotion Buffets

Had two buffet lunches in the span of 2 weeks. Promotion lunches cos they are 1) on promotion, 2) treated by people who got promoted recently.
  • River View hotel @ River Garden Coffee House - $18++

Ate here twice within a month. Was here previously for my ex-boss' "farewell". Think this should be one of the cheapest hotel buffet in town. Food was the same as the first visit but still as nice. So funny everyone swarmed to the durian moose cake the moment it was replenished. lol

  • Holiday Inn Atrium (aka formerly the glass hotel) @ Melting Pot Cafe - $28++

Ate here today. More expensive but it could not be compared with River View's. They had changed it from international to Asian cuisine. No signature dish. Dishes are not replenished as fast as the former. Lesser variety. There's Citibank 1-for-1 promotion but i'd rather pay a few more dollars for the cheap and good River View buffet.

My Loot!

My fabrics have arrived!! i KNEW they were already in my post box yesterday but i didn't feel like stepping out of the house. So here it is! (^^,)v

The loot in the bag

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7....... haha. don't count!

But very cute right!? :p

Shape Run 2008

Skipped class today but got up earlier than usual to turn up for my very first 5 km run! i think most of the people who alighted at City Hall this morning were going for the run. So hilarious seeing the sea of green, i couldn't stop myself from laughing to myself. (The people must think i'm crazy! :p) Too bad i didn't have a cam to take down this funny sight. lol.

The run wasn't as bad as i thought. Hee... i didn't train for it. Although i keep telling myself to prepare for the run in the three months span since i registered, the only training i had was the 15min run around my block on Wed... -_-" i was so happy to see the finishing line after about 45min. Yay! My personal best! erm.. my only timing. Haha. Of course it's nothing compared to the professional runners. Those 10km runners got flagged off earlier than us but about 5-10min into our run, we saw the winner come back le. OMG! *faintz*

Saw alot of photographers snapping away... hmm.. what's so interesting about 8000 sweaty, smelly, dirty, unkempt women!? Oh wait a minute! It IS interesting. Where can you find 8000 HOT women at one place? lol. It's a wonder they didn't faint from the smell! haha.

Oh well. It was quite a good run. Quite an accomplishment. Good job. Well done! *pat myself on the back* hehe. (^^,) but i wish that things were abit more orderly. Long snaking queues everywhere for the goody bag and stuff. And could those girls who behave as if they are having a leisure walk down Orchard Road move to the side please!

My trophy. a rojak of things inside the bag... batteries and cooking oil.... (o_O")

Return to Craftland

Discovered the world of interfacing today. Ahem. Interfacing is a textile that is used on the underside of fabrics to make them more rigid.

Tested out my newly bought interfacing. Replicated one of my previous projects. Spot the differences??

Changed the direction of the fabric. The owls are now hanging upside down. :p

Added velcro fasterner.

See the thickness of the new owl with interfacing??
