Iron Man 2

The first hour is really YAWN! so much so that i thought 2 hours had passed! The story is slightly better in the second half but the action is really too short and too little

And don't waste time waiting for the really short clip at the end of the credits. it is really (-_-")

TGI Friday's

i've always had a soft spot for them ever since my one-off part time job at the namesake ages ago. Of course it is not the same now.

Anyways, this new restaurant at the Heeren is 80% alfresco dining, i.e. no aircon! Considering the horribly hot weather these days, i wouldn't even consider eating here during the day. Luckily the place was quite well ventilated with lots of fans, so i didn't feel hot while eating.

i wanted to revive the oreo speedwagon i drank years ago. i was told they don't have that so the waitress recommended oreo milkshake which was not on the menu. i suspected that was the oreo speedwagon which i drank ages ago as that was also not part of the menu then. So i ordered that. The oreo milkshake is not bad but i thought the oreo speedwagon was nicer. Maybe next time if i order that, i would tell them not to blend the oreo so fine cos in the speedwagon, you could still taste some granules in it.

We shared the loaded potato skins and i had the Jack Daniel's Glazed Ribs for mains. The potato skins is average only. i like the ribs. The Jack Daniel sauce is quite intriguing. i thought it tasted like the sweet black sauce for soon kueh. :p

Anyways, i may just come back again during the day time so that i can sit and enjoy my meal with another sweet memory of mine across the road from this restaurant - my sec sch. :)

Ip Man 2

Frankly i had forgotten the prequel to this movie so i can't really compare with part 1. i enjoyed the show but somehow i thought it lacked something to it to give it a real WOW factor.

The Singapore Lion

No. This is not about soccer. Rather, this is an exhibition at the National Library Level 10 on Mr S. Rajaratnam. Visited this free exhibition by chance while waiting for my friend. i dunno why, but when i finished viewing the exhibition, i teared. Maybe after seeing so many exhibitions, this is one about the place i call home and one of the people who had strived to make it happen. i don't think people nowadays have the conviction and idealism as those before us.

Quite a small exhibition but worth viewing. Till 4 May 10. There's also an exhibition on William Farquhar on Level 7 till 31 Aug 10. Free admission as well. One thing i like about exhibitions at the National Library is that they are usually very quiet.

Taiwan (Day 1)

1210hrs - SQ 878 take off and begin my 9-day trip to Taiwan! :)

1635hrs – Landed half hour earlier in Taoyuan International Airport.
After check-in into our hotel, we went to get the train tickets to Hualien. The earliest train were sold out, so we took the next available train at 0718hrs.

Visited Shilin Night Market. Only covered maybe less than half of the NM. Didn't manage to eat the Hao Da Da Chicken Chop but tried many other interesting stuff! :)
Cheese Potato – they are really generous with the toppings and cheese!
Quail Eggs
Fishball
Qyster Egg
Mee Sua

Went back to hotel early to pack our overnight luggage to Hualien and catch some sleep.

Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge

Had wanted to eat here for ages. So here we came after the Quest. We both had the 4-course set meal. It is really an odd time for a meal cos it is not brunch, not lunch, not dinner. i called it the lunner! :p

All the courses come in royal copenhagen chinaware which is really pretty. So danish! Awesome. Nice place to eat and relax in midst of shopping at Taka.

Quest For Immortality - The World Of Ancient Egypt

Had wanted to go to this exhibition ever since it opened last Dec but cos the guided tours only started in Jan, we had wanted to wait.

And so we waited. But then there came CNY. So we waited.

And there came the Siem Reap trip. So we waited.

And now with the exhibition ending on 4 Apr, we could not delay any longer!

So taking advantage of the public holiday, off we go to the museum! Alas! As it was a PH, there were no guided tours! :( But we went still.

Reached close to noon. There was a queue for tickets but it went quite fast. There wasn't much people in the exhibition hall so we could view, read and see all the exhibits in our usual slow leisurely pace. As usual, we were very amazed that the pieces are so wonderfully preserved even though they are almost four-five thousand years old!

Spent about 3 hours in there and when we came out of the hall, we were shocked by the queue outside the hall! LONG queues in the basement outside the hall itself and LONG queues at the foyer buying tickets. The queue even extended to outside the museum! OMG!

I'm so glad i went early! :)

4 Apr is the last day which also happens to coincides with the Circle line open house, huge crowd expected.
